Samsung started out selling dried fish, rice, flour, fruits, and vegetables to Manchura and Beijing. It saw initial success and even purchased its own flour mills and confectionary machines. However the outbreak of the Korean War (1950-Present; peace treaty signed 1953) forced it to move to its current location in Pusan, South Korea. After the move Samsung rapidly grew and during the war its assets expanded twentyfold. In 1953 a sugar refinery was built and it became the Republic of Korea's first manufacturing facility.
