The Exit

Daisy could not believe what she had just witnessed; Jay Gatsby, the amiable and dainty millionaire, had struck Tom, causing him to plummet to the floor saturated with agony. Gatsby was breathing heavily and as the seconds passed, Jay calmed down and realized what his actions had resulted in. He stumbled backwards gasping for air from the overwhelming emotions that plagued him at the time; he was still admiring in wry disbelief what he had just done to Tom: punching him square in the face. Gatsby glanced back down at Tom, who was still writhing in pain, crying and cursing Gatsby name, while Daisy was hysterically crying and fell to her knees shrieking for help. He apprehensively took a few steps backward, and was shocked how much Daisy truly cared for Tom; or maybe it was the fact that in general, Daisy was an incessantly dramatic individual. Gatsby then turned and proceeded to walk out of the house. Once again Gatsby became enraged over the fact that Daisy may not have truly loved him. He got into his cream colored Model-T and started to drive away from the chaos.
