The Great Gatsby
Chelsea Myers
Goodnight
All through dinner, we chatted mindlessly about politics and the weather. Daisy played the
devil's advocate to her own debate
until finally, she gave up.
"I'll show you to your room then, Nick."
"We're not through with dinner, dear."
Tom pointed out.
"Well, I've had enough."
And that was that
.
We said goodnight
and I settled into the guest room as best I could.
I remembered Tom's words about dwelling on the past and wondered if it was a mistake to come.
Afternoon
Dwelling on the past is a common theme throughout the novel, mostly concerning Gatsby's infatuation with Daisy.
