There are many theories as to the most prominent causes for US entry into the Great War. It is still debated today as to which reason was most beneficial to us as a country. One reason was to protect our country and its freedom. President Wilson announced that we were fighting "for democracy, for the right of . . . free peoples as shall bring peace and safety to all nations and make the world itself at last free"
(1). Another reason for the US entering into the war is that it boosted the American economy. The US had already loaned the Allies a tremendous amount of money and if the Allies lost, the loans could never be repaid. Also new factories and industries begin whenever a country enters into war so the country can feed, clothe and arm the armed forces.
