When did Hitler write his book, Mein Kampf?
During WWI
Hitler was a general in the
German army. After the Germans had lost the war,
Hitler felt that he could make
Germany powerful again. He attempted to overthrow the government but failed and was sentenced to 5 years in prison. He spent his time in Landsberg castle, a prison in Munich. Here he was treated very well and he could do many things that the other prisoners could not such as walk around freely. In jail, Hitler read many books and was inspried by Henry
Ford’s
book to write his own. He agreed with Ford’s anti Jewish views and felt the
same hatred towards communism. Hitler’s advisers told him to write his own book
which is where Mein Kampf originated.
