Eventually, I got married and we did have children. It began kind of
roughly, with me doing some yelling and my husband trying to be quietly
supportive. He did, however, begin pointing out to me that
sometimes I got a little carried away. One day he told me that if I
didn't want to be
the same kind of mother my mother was that I
was going to have to change my ways. Slowly, I began to look at
how my friends parented their children. From my friend Lisa I saw
that children didn't necessarily need to
be punished or yelled at, that
oftentimes, just explaining the consequences of their actions to them
would often do the trick. I also began to read books on parenting
and attend parenting classes.
