Insight into Culture

When leaving their home town in the Sichuan Province, they are brought into a large culture shock. They are brought into a small town located in the "Phoenix of the Sky". The people of this town are uneducated agricultural and domestic workers who are going to re-educate Luo and the narrator. These two men continue to Culturally advance the Phoenix of the sky as they move on to travel to the little Chinese seamstress' village to have their pants tailored, which leads to a relationship in between and uneducated seamstress and an educated storyteller.

The Chinese seamstress makes a bet with them men for the price of their tailoring which leads to a relatioship with Luo, once they were invited to have tea and boiled soup of eggs."this was a sign that she had taken a liking to us. On this mountain an inviation to take a drink of water meant that your host would crack some eggs over the boiling pan and add sugar to make soup." This signifies respect and honor given to another in these mountain villages. This is the eventual lead to Luo and the narrator returning to the village to tell the stories from the theater.
