With all chances of getting the books from Four-Eyes through peaceful methods gone, Luo and the Narrator decide that they are going to steal the suitcase, after a suggestion from the Little Seamstress. After having met Four-Eyes's
mother and learning that the pirated songs bought their former friends a ticket off the mountain, they come up with a plan to finally get their hands on the forbidden literature.
Four-Eyes departure was to be marked by a
massive feast with all the villagers attending. During this convenient window of opportunity, the narrator and Lou would sneak in and snatch the booty.
A few bad dreams aside, the break-in starts out perfectly.
However, just when they're about to make off into the night, Four-Eyes and his mother come back to get some pills for a stomach problem. But luckily (for them), Four-Eyes suddenly suffers from a
bowel problem and runs out to the fields to relieve himself. After his mother rushes after him with some toilet paper, the two master thieves make off, with their treasure.
